This was the first Mafia Romance I've ever read, and I'm not going to lie - I was skeptical at first (just as I was when I read my first Bully Romance), but much to my delight, T. Steele did not disappoint.
Enter calm, cool, collected, 25 year old hitman, John Russo, with his ice blue eyes, curly black hair and stone cold demeanor. His entire person screams danger, and he has the stealth of a damn ninja. Nothing shakes him, and he walks around silently with a stoic expression, giving absolutely nothing away. Until he meets Ruby, the bosses 19 year old daughter.
"I've never met a woman who felt like my salvation, Ruby. A man like me doesn't deserve salvation. Or anything good really, but you feel that way for me. Fuck knows I'm not strong enough to fight that." - JohnThe immediate chemistry that Ruby and John share shook me to my very core. They balance each other in such a beautiful way that it's impossible not to root for them. John hurt my heart on more than one occasion (the quote above one of several) while Ruby made me beam with an odd sense of pride at her strength and courage. With a perfect balance of action, romance, and comic relief, this book is truly a journey like no other I've ever experienced before.
Book Boyfriend: 9/10 (yep... even though hes a killer, hes still getting a solid 9)

* * * Synopsis * * *
When you’re almost killed, not once, but twice, finding out your father is a mafia boss doesn’t seem so bad.
What is bad, though, is the feelings I’m trying to hide toward John, my father’s personal assassin.
With his brooding, bad boy aura and intense blue eyes, I know he could command anything from me and I would obey.
His eyes, though sinister, say they want to touch me, to kiss me, to cross that line we know is forbidden.
I feel drawn to him. His presence calls to me like a beacon.
Even though my father took him in and molded him into what he is today—a merciless killer— my father will be even more merciless when it comes to his only heir. Nothing but a brutal and violent death will be waiting for John if my father ever finds out.
But I don’t know if either of us are strong enough to stay away.
